2 Types of Lectures/ Briefings:
1. Formal
Typically found with large groups and one sided. Minimal interaction from students or audience.
2. Informal
Used for small groups and encourages active student/instructor participation. This is the main
type used in Technical Training.
Delivery Formats (lectures/ briefings):
1. Impromptu
This is when we speak publicly without warning or with a few moments' notice. This method
requires the speaker to achieve the highest level in verbal communication.
2. Prepared
This is the most often used in military briefings. Prepared speaking refers to those times when
we have ample opportunity to prepare.

An oral presentation used in situations that requires word-for-word delivery.
