have been using for your past speeches in this class- you will be given your topic, you will
determine your general purpose statement... impromptu speeches can be either informative or
persuasive and it is up to you to decide how you want to approach them; then you make your
specific purpose statement from there and then you work out your main points (keep them
simple- about 2-3 only)... form a simple intro with your main points and an attention getter.

is to practice speech writing in a limited time frame- give yourself a minute to write a speech
and then deliver it in front of your friends, go to the speech lab, office hours, etc.
other tips on impromptu speeches - ANS✔✔ don't waste time googling the topic, citations do
not matter for this speech and you will not receive extra points for them; if you use a lot of word
fillers naturally, be extra cautious, do not advocate for anything unethical
