Three of the six domains of healthcare quality influencing value-based care
include patient-centered care, ensuring effective care services, and the efficiency of all
resources. The goal of value-based care is to decrease healthcare costs while
improving patient outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction through evidence-based
practice and continual process improvement; putting the patient as the focus of every
decision to improve efficiency and avoid unnecessary services demonstrates this
concept.


1b. 10 responsibilities needed for a quality management position

10 Responsibilities of a Nurse Quality Manager:

• Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all facets
of an effective accreditation readiness program.
• Facilitate the development, implementation, and sustainment of proactive and
corrective improvements to meet accreditation standards and other regulatory
requirements.
• Plans, facilitates, conducts, and documents tracers, walkabouts, and quality
monitoring audits, as scheduled and as needed, focusing on continual survey
readiness and evaluation of specific corrective action plans, and reports findings
to process owners and tracks corrective action plans; and evaluates patient
medical records for compliance with inpatient and outpatient services, policies

• Completes survey-related administrative processes and applications, and
provides consultation and support to all levels of facility leadership, the Quality
Management Chief, and others responsible for facility accreditation activities,
including all accreditation-related requirements, facility policy initiation/revision,
readiness preparation, intra-survey facilitation, and development,
implementation, and monitoring of post-survey corrective action plans.
• Educates staff about accreditation-related regulations, standards, facility
guidance and processes, and OIG initiatives, and provides consultation to ensure
that facility Memoranda correctly and completely address all accreditation-related
requirements.
• Creates effective lines of communication and collegial, collaborative functional
partnerships with senior leadership, internal and external customers, and
accreditation stakeholders.
• Meet goals through efficient, effective utilization and management of
organizational and personal resources.
• Facilitates, supports, and assures completion of ongoing assessments and
quality monitoring actions by service/subject matter experts to evaluate
compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Provides HRO program management/administration to ensure that
programs/initiatives align directly with the journey to high reliability. Serves as the
subject matter expert on the HRO mission and objectives. Serves as HRO
Baseline Training and clinical Team Training facilitator. Facilitates, coaches, and
trains staff at all levels of the organization on high-reliability principles/concepts.
