Comparison of Studies Addressing Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity is clinical concern posing health problems globally. Despite the
continued rise in rates of childhood obesity, an explicit treatment intervention is yet to be
established. Most research studies seeking to solve the issue lean towards prevention. Evidence-
based research focused on treating childhood obesity are limited. As a result, the condition’s
management and treatment are left on medical practitioners to utilize clinical judgment and
persuasion to modify families’ dietary and lifestyle habits. Thus, the study brings home health
nurses as part of clinical practitioners to help parents recognize the problem while guiding them
on observing children’s weight to ensure they maintain a healthy weight. In this case, home
health nurses are to conduct a home-based intervention involving behavioral changes in nutrition
habits, screen time, and physical activity for obesity prevention in children.
Comparison of Research Questions
Narzisi & Simons (2020) and Cuda & Censani (2019) conducted a rather general study
whose research questions seek to find age-specific measures of diagnosing, treating, and
preventing obesity in children. Valerio et al. (2019) question the impact of pediatric obesity in
reducing morbidity, mortality, and cost of care. Pamungkas & Chamroonsawasdi (2019) research
question is based on the influence of home-based interventions, including enhancing child health
behaviors and changing parental feeding habits in promoting childhood obesity prevention and
treatment. Similarly, Silveira et al. (2015) ask how either sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB) or
exclusive breastfeeding affect conditional weight gain (CWG) in pre-school children. Both
address the needed change in diet and nutrition to prevent weight gain. Staiano et al. (2018)
question the impact of exergaming on lowering BMI z-scores and improving cardiometabolic
factors, body composition, health behavior, and psychosocial health. This is similar to that by
