Acc to Ashtanga hridayam
वायुः पित्तं कफश्चेति त्रयो दोषाः समासतः ।।6।।
विकृ ताऽविकृ ता देहं घ्नन्ति ते वर्तयन्ति च ।
Briefly saying vara, pitta, kaphh are the three dosa (functional unit or
biological force ) which are existing in the body. This three dosa keep the
body in a healthy condition when they are in equilibrium state and cause this is
vitiated stage.
Note:
1. Vriddhi (increase state)
2. Ksaya(decrease state)
3. Samya(balance or equilibrium state)
