How does the National Health insurance system (Canada's) differ from the
National Health system (structured by Britain)?
With the NHI, the system is tax supported, meaning the government guarantees a
basic package of health services to all citizens, but the actual care is delivered by
private physicians of choice. The NHS is also taxed supported, but the entire
infrastructure is government controlled. Patients have no voice in choosing health
care facilities, physicians, or providers.
