Standards & Assessment Development
In this module on standards and assessment development, I have learned how to
unpack a standard for a selected topic. I have chosen to do a one-week study in social studies
on how time can be divided into categories such as the past, present, and future. Standards-
based assessments support effective student learning through assessment tasks that are
broken down into language that students can engage in and more readily understand (Hendry et
al., 2012). Developing assessments that align with state standards should promote improved
classroom practices and provide data for school improvement (Stecher et al., 1998).
, Table of Test Specifications
Standard: 1.HI.1. This standard indicates that time can be divided into categories (e.g., months
of the year, past, present, and future).
