, DANDRUFF
Dandruff is a common chronic scalp condition characterized by flaking of the skin, itching, and
sometimes redness or irritation of the scalp. It may vary in severity from mild flaking to more
persistent inflammatory scalp involvement.
It is mainly associated with the overgrowth of Malassezia yeast, increased sebum (oil) production,
and an inflammatory response of the scalp. These factors lead to accelerated skin cell turnover and
visible white or yellowish flakes.
In simple terms: excess oil + fungal overgrowth + scalp irritation = flaking, itching, and discomfort.
