Conformity - ✅✅To accept what you are told and behave and think in the way that is expected of
you.
Formal curriculum - ✅✅Subjects that are studied and examined in schools and colleges e.g. Sociology,
History, Maths etc.
Hidden curriculum - ✅✅What schools teach students through day-to-day school life, but is not part of
the formal timetable. This teaches students society's values and their future role in society.
Informal education - ✅✅Non - directed learning that occurs outside the classroom and does not have
a curriculum to follow.
Segregation - ✅✅The separation of students, often by gender, to give them different experiences and
opportunities in school. This could be through single-sex schooling.
Gender roles - ✅✅Genders tend to choose different subjects according to their gender e.g. males are
more likely choose PE and females are more likely to choose textiles. These also lead onto future
gender-stereotyped careers.
Home schooling - ✅✅When education is delivered at home by either tutors or parents.
Further education - ✅✅This is education for people aged 16 - 18, sometimes in a school sixth form or
college. (A Levels, Diplomas, BTECs and GNVQs)
