it is metabolic bone disease in which bone mass reduce and bone become
fragile (weak) and get easily broke. It is most common in female.
Etiology / risk factor
- Calcium deficiency
- Low estrogen level after menopause: estrogen is vital for maintaining bone
density. women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in first 5-7 years after
menopause.
- Thyroid problem : particular in hyperthyroidism ( high T3 Level ( normal
70-200ng/dl). it increase reabsorption of calcium . which leads to weak bone.
