Band 9 Blueprint: Mastering IELTS Writing Task 1
Introduction:
IELTS Writing Task 1 assesses your analytical capabilities, lucidity, and academic
writing abilities in addition to having you describe a graph or chart.
You must do the following in this task:
Recognize visual information
Determine the essential elements
Provide information in an organized and understandable manner.
The examiner is looking at how well you choose and present material, not how much
you write.
In order to receive a Band 9, your writing needs to:
Be rational, concise, and well-structured.
Make correct use of a broad vocabulary
Exhibit excellent command of grammar
Instead of listing all the data, highlight the most important trends.

Step-by-step strategy
Step 1: Understand the Question Properly:
Examine the image closely before writing anything.
Consider this:
What kind of image is it? (Table, pie chart, bar chart, line graph)
What is being measured? (population, sales, students, etc.)
What is the duration? (past, present, and future)
Crucial Points:
For historical data, use the past tense.
When making predictions, use the future tense.
Your band score may suffer if you don't comprehend this.
Step 2: Identify Key Features:
The majority of students receive lower grades at this point.
You shouldn't go into every detail. Rather, concentrate on:
Maximum and minimum values
Significant rises or falls
Overall patterns
