The type of business: Tesco is a public limited company also known as PLC, and
is for profit making as their aim is to make money. A PLC can put shares out in
a market, which anybody can buy from. Moreover, by law the company has to
make information clear and assessable. They also sell and trade shares to the
public. Being a retail company, they are therefore a tertiary sector. A tertiary
sector provides services to the public are in mostly developed countries.
Moreover, Tesco is limited liability as they are owned by thousands of people
and owned by shareholders who fund the company, which means they can
raise a large sum of people, as there is no limit to the number of shareholders.
Tesco has over 300,00 employees and over 6,800 stores globally. On the other
hand, the National Health Service (NHS) is a publicly funded healthcare system
established in England. It is a healthcare service, which is provided for the
government and is contemplated a non -for profit business as they are a public
sector and are not there to make money, as they are charitable like charities.
The businesses purposes: The purpose of Tesco as a business is to provide cost
for customers to earn their reliance to offer a wide range of products and
services. Tesco’s aim is also to expand and make more profit as well as, trade
in other countries and other companies. The National Health Services purpose
is to provide healthcare and safety services to the general public. They will
provide medicine and beds to those who need it and they provide surgeries if
needed, such as knee surgery.
The businesses ownership: The founder of Tesco is Jack Cohen. Cohen had
discovered Tesco as a group of market stalls in 1919. Tesco is a global
organisation as it operates in 13 different countries. Tesco is a corporate
business, which is where the business whose owners are seen as separate,
therefore, the owners are not liable for the debt. Aneurin Bevan had formed
the National Health Service on 5th July 1914. The National Health Service is
also funded by tax we as the public pay in England. The National Health Service
is only provided free in England. However we do pay for prescriptions if above
