It is intended to be brief, on average 8–12 sessions. It can be used in conjunction with private individuals, couples, families, and groups within a wide range of social work practice contexts (Kelly, 2013)." Per Kelly, TCP is associated with a diverse-stage process that educates practitioners to collaborate closely with clients to create distinct and achievable objectives per the agreed-upon problem, typically referred to as a target problem (Kelly, 2013). A1: FIVE STAGES The task-centered practice is a well-known evidence-based practice that involves collaborating with patients to identify "distinct and achievable objectives. Once the target problem is identified, the caseworker and the client will co-create the contract that contains the target problem. These purposes are fulfilled with five activities: (1.) Engage and put in place a rapport with the client. The healthcare professional will utilize Motivational Interviewing and active listening to initiate communication, build trust, and encourage the client. (2.) Identify the target issue or objective. The healthcare provider and the client will discuss current issues and potential outcomes using shared decision-making to agree on these on the targeted problem. Furthermore, this will be beneficial in devising specific goals and increasing patient outcomes (3.) Identify tasks or a few finite objectives for implementation by the client and provider, along with defined accountability. These actions need to be specific, per the S.M.A.R.T. goals methodology.
