Abstract
Crohn’s disease is a condition affecting 700,000 people in which it causes an inflammation in the
digestive tract. The cause of Crohn’s disease is unknown and it could affect anybody, it affects
men and women equally, but is more prevalent in Caucasians, and those of Jewish decent.
Crohn’s disease is more common in people who already have family members with the disease.
Roughly 3 in 20 people who suffer from Crohn’s disease will have a relative who also suffers
from it. Currently, there is no cure for it, but there are therapies that can help reduce the signs
and symptoms while bringing it into a long-term remission and dietary restrictions to help with
flare ups.
