Instructions on what is needed in the spreadsheet and how to create your pivot table and chart – Hope this
helps
Download the Estimates_of_Emergency_Dept and save it to your laptop/desktop
o KeyPoints
Leave the main ED estimates as your main tap (reason why I had to resubmit a 2nd time)
Add filters by highlighting your sections (A-L), from the toolbar click “Sort & Filter. This
gives you the dropdown options next to each data row
For each pivot table I renamed the Measure to either Primary diagnosis or Most common
Reason for visit
Changed it back once I created the pivot table in a new tab
o KeyPoints for Pivot table chart
When filtering make sure to have 2016-2021 checked
Filter “Measure Type” by primary diagnosis
For Measure (or if you changed the name to Primary Diagnosis) select all with the
exception of “All Diagnosis” (this is generalized and not needed)
Group: filter by either Sex, Age, Race/ethnicity, Region, or type of payment/insurance
used (only leave what you need checked)
Filter your subgroups (or if you renamed this by whatever you chose to focus on): either
by gender, age group, insurance, or region
Estimate Type: filter by Visit Count (filter and unselect rate)
Estimate: (I changed it to Visit Count)
Make sure to unselect any blanks in this column
Other three columns are not needed buy you can leave it on the main ED tab
o Undo your filters and change names for your next pivot table
o Once Pivot tables are complete, I changed the names back on the main Estimates of ED
o Pivot time
Click on Insert
Highlight your columns A-H
