Class notes Science
Hydrocarbons are organic compounds made only of carbon and hydrogen. They are found in fuels, plastics, and many daily-use materials. Hydrocarbons are mainly of two types: saturated and unsaturated. Saturated hydrocarbons (alkanes) have only single bonds between carbon atoms, are stable, and follow the general formula . Examples include methane, ethane, propane, and butane.
