2. Basic 3 rules of Parliamentary Procedure: (1) Right of Majority to Rule, (2) Right of Minority to
be Heard, (3) Right of the individual to be heard and represented
3. Agenda: a fixed order of business that meetings with parliamentary procedure follow
4. Call to Order: formal declaration by the chairperson of the meeting that it has oflcially begun-1st step of
agenda
5. Roll by Secretary: done to ḱeep an oflcial count of the numbers present; if the quorum is not met, business at
the meeting cannot be conducted- 2nd Step in Agenda
6. Quorum: The minimum number of members who must be present for business to be conducted
7. Minutes of the Previous Meeting: minutes of the previous meeting are read aloud by the secretary
and are confirmed by the general members; this reminds the members of what was done at the last meeting and what is
still pending- 3rd Step of Agenda
8. Treasurer's Report: The treasurer informs general members of disbursements and receipts since the last
meeting; if there are no questions about the report, the report is filed for an audit-4th step of Agenda
9. Report of Officers: Oflcers give a report or an update of what they have been doing, any correspondence
that has been received is usually read-5th step of Agenda
10. Standing Committee Reports: A committee that remains every year gives a report-6th step of Agenda
11. Special Committee Reports: A committee that was established or a specific purpose in the short term
give their reports- 7th step of Agenda
12. Unfinished Business: An issues that were brought before the members at a previous meeting that could
not be resolved are presented one at a time and are resolved-8th step of Agenda
13. New Business: new actions or business that must be considered by the members are brought up by the
chairperson or general members as a motion-9th step of Agenda
14. Program/ Announcememnts: This is an optional part of Agenda where announcements are made
and mini worḱshops/ special programs are presented for entertainment
15. Adjournment: occurs after all the business in completed or after no more time is available for the meeting

16. Motion: allows an order of business to be introduced in an oflcial manner- members vote on the motion to
decide whether the motions passes or fails
17. Main Motion: introduces a topic for the membership to consider and cannot be made when any other motion
is on th efloor
