Co-occurring Substance Use Disorders and Related Concerns Among
the Population Dealing with Pre-Existing Depression and Anxiety
Disorders
Abstract
This study, in local outpatient mental health clinics and substance misuse treatment
facilities, aims to look into the integration of evidence-based procedures for people facing co-
occurring depression, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders (SUDS). By informing the
study design, the study would strive to enhance patient outcomes through a quasi-experimental
pre-enactment plan cycle to increase provider knowledge, attitude models, and perceptions
regarding evidence-based treatment modalities. The results demonstrate a considerable
continuum in provider access and application of evidence-based therapies, along with a high
significance for symptom management, treatment adherence, and patient participation. These
impeding factors were resource shortages and system issues. At the same time, facilitators,
mainly the organization's support for these integrated care and interdisciplinary collaboration
approaches, were also outlined. Recommendations are provided for multidisciplinary teamwork
to enable nursing people to act more as caregivers and less as only technical operators. The
issue of societal support should also be focused on, and continuing education and training for
nursing personnel are necessary. This intervention highlights the importance of nurses
safeguarding evidence-based practice and providing patient-centric care to men who suffer from
co-occurring disorders.
