1. Analyze how specific decisions made within the simulation affected your company’s
competitive sales and financial performance during the previous three quarters (Q1–Q3) by
doing the following:
a. Explain two decisions that have affected the company’s past competitive sales performance in
the carbon fiber bicycle market, as shown in either the market share report or sales performance
report.
Market Share data shows ArgenBikes at 24.39% total market share (2nd overall), with #1 share
in Recreation (28.01%), #2 in Mountain (27.76%), and a competitive presence in Speed
(15.61%). It also logs 973 total units of ArgenBikes demand in Q3 (647 Rec, 146 Mountain, 180
Speed) out of a 3,989‑unit market (Rec 2,310; Mountain 526; Speed 1,153).
First decision: It was to compete in all the available markets with a well-balanced price-
performance business approach.
I have made the decision to compete in all available markets (the Recreation, Mountain, and
Speed) with a very competitive mid‑range pricing attitude and a multi‑brand arrangement (e.g.,
Velos/Veloz/Montana/Barata/Baratita), which helps ArgenBikes keep the average selling price in
a balanced, accessible range through the third quarter. This wide coverage is reflected in my
number one Recreation share at 28.01% of the market and number two Mountain share with
27.76% of the market. These results are clear evidence that a stable approach aligned my offering
with the greatest demand (especially in the Recreation market).
Second Decision: The opening of more stores and the hiring of employees
I have expanded reach by opening another store in Amsterdam in the second quarter and a third
store in Bangalore in quarter three. I have grown the salesforce from 0 employees in the
beginning stages to seven in quarter two.
By the end of the third quarter, we had fourteen people working.
