, Introduction
As business manager of Paradigm Toys (“Paradigm” or “the Company”), I have been tasked by
the board of directors to organize an ethics audit and present key findings which will support my
recommendations for Paradigm Toys’ ethics training. Paradigm Toys is a family-owned retailer
and manufacturer of children’s toys. Due to the customer base being young children and families
and the workforce being engaged in manufacturing, Paradigm has a significant ethical
responsibility. The following report examines different dimensions of Paradigm’s corporate
social responsibility (“CSR”).
A – Corporate Social Responsibility at Paradigm Toys
CSR refers to a Company’s commitment to operating in a way that benefits not just internal and
external stakeholders, but society at large. The Company’s focus shifts away from pure profit
generation and emphasizes the broader impact on people, communities, and the environment. For
a toy company such as Paradigm, CSR needs to be a core operating philosophy where it guides
raw material sourcing, employee treatment, and community management.
The purpose of CSR is layered. Firstly, strong CSR philosophy enables trust. When a company
demonstrates accountability beyond corporate and legal obligations, it signals to both consumers
and investors that management can be trust with business operations and children’s safety.
Longer term, CRM supports sustainability; ethical supply chains, environmental management,
and fair labour practices. By prioritizing sustainability, Paradigm can avoid the high legal costs
of scandals and court proceedings. These can have an impact on brand. Internally, CSR
contributes to employee morale and talent retention. Employees that are proud of the work they
do feel more engaged with their workplace and exhibit greater loyalty and commitment. As a
