-establish eye contact
-approach only if signaled by the pilot
-approach only from the front
-on slopes approach uphill/depart downhill
-stay as low as possible with the head
-firmly hold loose items and don't reach up or chase when blown away
-when blinded by dust or sand, sit down and wait for help, don't try to feel
the way
Inside the helicopter:
-Never ever touch flight controls
-Explain use of the doors
-show location of survival equipment/first aid
-explain use of the shoulder harness/seatbelt
-if flying without doors secure loose items
-never lean out unless approved by pilot
-no smoking in or within 50 ft of helicopter
-instruct what actions/precautions to take in event of an emergency such as
body position(back firmly against seat) and when and how to exit after
landing
-operation over water ditching procedures/floating equipment
-help for watching traffic/obstructions
-If I raise the hand it means shut up
