ECG/EKG
Electrocardiogram
a graphic recording of the electrical activity of the heart
does not give information about blood flow, valve function or pumping ability
Purpose of EKG
heart disease, heart attacks (MI), accident victims, surgery (pre/post-op), cardiac arrest, emergency
management, routine physical exams
Holter Monitoring
An ECG device is worn during a 24-hour period to detect cardiac arrhythmias
patient conducts normal daily activities while keeping a diary, recording significant events and any
associated symptoms (including time)
Echocardiography
Ultrasound recording of heart function
