QUESTION 1

Question 1

1.1 Structured Abstract (200 words)

Bibliographic details

Boloka, M. and Ngoepe, M. 2024. Leaving no one behind: information repackaging
for rural dwellers in South Africa.

Objectives

The study focuses on the problem of limited access to information in rural
communities in South Africa. It aims to explore how information can be simplified and
shared in ways that meet the needs of rural people. It also looks at how effective
digital access policies are in these areas.

Method

A qualitative approach was used. The study applied the Delphi technique to collect
views from five experts in library and information science. The research was
conducted in Limpopo province.

Findings

The study found that many rural areas do not have enough libraries, which makes it
difficult for people to access useful information. There is also poor access to
newspapers and weak internet services. Libraries often lack proper resources and
trained staff. The study highlights the need for more funding to build community
libraries and provide free wireless internet. It also shows that skilled people leave
rural areas, which slows development.

Discussion and conclusion

The study shows that communities should take initiative by creating their own
information spaces. When communities act, government support is more likely to
follow. Rural people must work together to improve access to information (Boloka
and Ngoepe, 2024).
