to

same
problem. TSgt Jumbo has already given A1C Zon verbal counseling for neglecting paperwork.

can't
follow simple orders."

According to the Discipline chapter, supervisors should use the correction arena of the DM.
Correction is designed to address ineffective behavior, and seek to bring subordinates' behavior
back within acceptable boundaries using the least amount of force necessary. This is
accomplished by using the PDP, which is critical to the Correction Arena. Supervisors should
take the least amount of action necessary to correct behavior and then progress up from there.
Therefore, Jumbo has verbally counseled A1C Zon in the past, but should now move up the PDP
by using either a LOC, LOA, or LOR. However, Jumbo went directly to his Commander to
discuss disciplinary actions. Since Jumbo uses the correction arena of the PDP inappropriately
this will decrease his effectiveness as an NCO.
Progressive Discipline Process (PDP) correct answers a model for administering discipline
appropriate to the infraction, and its purpose is to help supervisors enforce standards consistently
and equally, as well as provide a method for achieving maximum results with minimum force
necessary.
Establish Standards
Monitor
Apply the PDP
Admonition correct answers More severe than counseling. Used for infractions serious enough to
warrant admonishment but not serious enough to warrant reprimand.
Unfavorable Information File (UIF) correct answers Maintained by the Military Personnel
Section. Provides commanders with an official repository of substantiated derogatory data
concerning an Air Force member's personal conduct and duty performance.
