� Topic
• The topic of the TED Talk will be
either the one chosen by the
student or the one allocated by
the teacher in cases where the
original instructions were not
followed.
• Once the topic has been confirmed,
it cannot be changed.
• Students must ensure that the content is relevant, appropriate, and
clearly connected to the chosen topic.

⏱ Timing
• The presentation must last between 1 minute 30 seconds and 2 minutes
30 seconds.
• Talks that are significantly shorter or longer than the established time
limit may be penalised.
• Students should practise in advance in order to manage their time
effectively while maintaining fluency.
🗣🗣 Language Use & Pronunciation
• The talk must include complex and topic-specific vocabulary.
• Students are expected to demonstrate the use of advanced grammatical
structures, including but not limited to:
o Conditional sentences
o Passive voice
o Relative clauses
o Connectors such as despite and in spite of
o Modal verbs (might, must, could, should)
• Language should be formal, accurate, and varied, avoiding basic
expressions or repetition.
, • Students must check the pronunciation of complex or unfamiliar words
in advance, using reliable sources (such as online dictionaries), as
pronunciation will be assessed.
• Clear articulation, appropriate intonation, and confidence are essential
for effective communication.
� Structure
The TED Talk must follow a clear and well-organised structure:
1. Introduction
o Introduce the topic clearly and engage the audience from the
beginning.
o Present the main idea, argument, or question that will be developed.
o Provide brief context to help the audience understand the
relevance of the topic.
2. Development (Body)
o Develop the main ideas in a logical and coherent order.
o Support arguments with explanations, examples, or brief
references to real-life situations.
o Use a variety of connectors and discourse markers to ensure
cohesion and clarity.
o Show the ability to analyse ideas rather than simply describe them.
3. Conclusion
o Summarise the main points clearly and concisely.
o Reinforce the central message of the talk.
o End with a final reflection, prediction, or call to action that leaves
a strong impression.

their message.
o Eye contact should be maintained regularly in order to engage the
audience.
o Gestures should be natural and purposeful, avoiding excessive or
distracting movements.
