Unit-2 Management of Ethics (30%)
Ethics analysis [Hosmer model], Ethical dilemma, Ethics in practice, ethics for managers, Role and function of
ethical managers, the organizational size, profitability and ethics, Cost of ethics in Corporate ethics
evaluation. Business and ecological / environmental issues in the Indian context and case studies
Unit-3 Theory of Ethics and environmental ethics (15%)
Introduction, theory of egoism and subjectivism, Cultural relativism, approaches to environmental issues,
opposition to green environment, ROI of sustainable environmental responsibility
Unit-4 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): (30%)
Meaning, corporate philanthropy, CSR-an overlapping concept, corporate sustainability reporting, CSR
through triple bottom line, CSR and business ethics, CSR and corporate governance, environmental aspect of

CONCEPT OF ETHICS
Ethics is the branch of philosophy that studies the values and behaviour of a person. Ethics studies
concepts like good and evil, and right & wrong.
Meaning
The word ethics is derived from the Greek word ethikos meaning custom or character.
The Oxford Dictionary states ethics as "the moral principle that governs a person's behaviour
or how an activity is conducted".
Ethics is a set of principles or standards of human conduct that govern the behaviour of
individuals or organizations. Based on these standards, people try to know what is right and
wrong.
Ethics is a conception of right and wrong behaviour, defining for us when our actions are
moral and when they are immoral
Ethics is the discipline that examines ones moral standards or the moral standards of a
society.
It is that branch of philosophy which is concerned with human character and conduct.
Definitions:
1. According to R.Wayne Mondy, ”Ethics is the discipline dealing with what is good and bad ,or
right and wrong ,or with moral duty and obligation”
2. “Ethics can be defined as the discipline dealing with moral duties and obligation, and
explaining what is good or not good for others and for us.”
