Conformity and obedience form the backbone of all Public Services, and without them the discipline and
hierarchical system wouldn’t be able to work. This Public Services need their officers to perform the
position they anticipate and to obey instructions irrespective of whether they agree that they are
correct or whether they have a better idea.
All Public Service Officers regardless of their service conform as a part of their roles. This is illustrated by
a number of different examples within the Public Services. Through doing this, they conform to their
superiors' expected behaviour, but also to their fellow officers' behaviour. They would stand out from
the rest and not blend in with the group if one officer were to wear a different uniform. In conclusion, I
agree that the use of obedience and conformity within public services plays a crucial role as they help to
create the expected habits of those who serve within a Public Service. Although, if they did not exist or if
