According to Bukhari (2019), different opinions about ‘strategy’ makes it
complicated to have a unique answer for its definition over years. However, he
describes that “strategy is the direction and scope of organization over the long
term” opined by Johnson and Scholes (2005). It is worth to noted that, s trategy is a
process, not a final target. Strategy formation process can be classified into deliberate
and emergent strategies. Deliberate strategies emphasize on controlling the future
steps based on priorities while emergent strategies focused on learning as future is
unpredictable and different from our anticipation (Zif, 2015). Additionally, Stretton
(2017), described the umbrella strategy which has a deliberately emergent component.
This strategy was former mentioned by Hellmann and Rasche (2006), as a middle-up-
down or integrating process.
