Marketing Expanded Scope Pharmacist Services
For this brief we will explore the marketing of strategy for our varied pharmacy practice
services like prescribing renewals and prescribing for shingles, vaccines and uncomplicated
urinary tract infections. Other services in focus will be medication fill alignment, fill
reminders and blister packing services.
Costco Halifax Patient Population
Prescription drug users are our target customer population at Costco Pharmacy. According to
Statistics Canada (2015) the rate of prescription drugs use approximately doubles from age group
24 to 44 compared to age group 45 to 64; namely 25.2% and 55.1% respectively. Moschis,
Bellenger and Curasi (2003) discuss the importance of this population age groups as this group
is not only increasing proportionally to the total population but they are also consuming a greater
proportion of care services. This is emphasized by the fact that those over 65 years of age spent
$1060 more than the average person in 1999 (Moschis et al., 2013). The authors researched
