BACKGROUND:
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
The endocrine system is a vast system made up of many different endocrine
organs/tissues and the hormones they produce. In this lab, we will focus on five
main features of the endocrine system:
1. Endocrine tissue/gland
2. Trigger for hormone production
3. Target tissue of hormone

PURPOSE:
In this lab, you will be asked to identify some of the different endocrine
organs/tissues of the body as well as the hormones they produce. You will then
identify the target tissues of each of the tested hormones and describe the effects
those hormones have on the target tissues.
MATERIALS:
This lab is worksheet based so you will need this worksheet as well as any
additional resources you need to answer the questions.
PREPARATION:
• Read your lab in its entirety before coming to class.
• Clear your workstation of all unnecessary materials. Book bags and or
purses should be hung on hooks or places at the front of class. Make sure
all other unnecessary materials (coats, drink containers, unused textbooks,
etc.) are all stored and placed in a safe area out of the way.
• Obtain all materials listed above.
• Familiarize yourself with your lab materials.
• Follow the directions of the packet and as presented by your instructor.
• Be aware of the instructions for documenting your lab work. You will be
performing the lab in a group but will each be responsible for recording
your own data and creating your own lab report.
ACTIVITY:
o Read through each question on the observation report and fill in the
appropriate answers. Make sure you are answering each question
completely for full credit. You may use any of the provided resources
