Black Panthers - Answer 1966-Created by Seale and Newton, wanted to do something about
police violence and didn't identify with activists in south (believed they needed to use violence).
Declined by 1970s because they lost members to drugs and never got a following of middle

Cesar Chavez - Answer In 1965 he and National Farm Workers Association joined the grape
strike (wanted higher wages). Believed in non-violence. Recruited members of religious and civil
rights groups to turn it into a social movement. Escalated to a boycott that was very successful
in the US and Europe.

AIM. Federal government ends up leaving but arrests protestors later. It raised awareness of the
issues but led to even more violence. Broke the back of AIM.
