Ubuntu in South African Education Ubuntu is a traditional African philosophy often summarised by the phrase “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” a person is a person through other people. In South African education, Ubuntu emphasises interconnectedness, respect, empathy, and collective responsibility.
