LACE - ANSWER -Proposed as a communication network to include
organizations that represent the Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, and
Education components of APRN regulation. it is intended to be a transparent
process for communicating about APRN regulatory issues, facilitating
implementation of the APRN Consensus Model, and involving stakeholders in
advancing APRN regulation.
Consensus Model - ANSWER -This is a regulatory model based on the broad
definition of regulation. Includes the entities that control the preparation and
credentialing of the APRN including nurse educators, certifiers, and licensing
regulators. It also includes the accreditors of nurse education programs.
Patterns of Statutory and regulatory authority: Four patterns - ANSWER -1. The
use of an established formulary or lists of drugs that the APRN can prescribe
2. A negative or exclusionary formulary that allows the APRN to prescribe all
drugs with the exception of a short list of forbidden drugs
3.An individualized collaborative formulary established by the APRN with a
collaborating physician.
4. Unlimited authority with no formulary or collaborative requirements.
Clinical Judgment - ANSWER -Defined as an understanding or inference about a

not act) to use or modify standard approaches or to improvise new ones as deemed
