language in its history,
linguistics has been engaged
in describing and determining
the forms in language and the
grammatical jobs that these
forms have in language.

language may be important in
different situations, on various
occasions or to study the functions it
may have in a speech community.
Therefore, the instruments, terminology
and methods for dealing with this aspect
of language have not been very
proficient.

Basically, language can
perform various functions in
human affairs, and almost
never only one at a time.
