Critical Discourse Analysis
, Critical Discourse Analysis
CDA is concerned with the use and
abuse of language for achieving certain
socio-political objectives.
It deals with matters that touch the
issues of ideology and social belief.
On the basis of the linguistic features in
a text, an ideological significance can
be assigned to it.
, Critical Discourse Analysis
In this understanding of DA, discourses
are kinds of genre, institutionalized
modes of thinking and social practice.
The producers of text are not so much to
be taken as individuals, but as
spokespersons of certain social groups
and representatives of discourse groups.
, Critical Discourse Analysis
The analysts in this domain of
analysis focus on the schemata that
have to do with socio-political
values and belief.
Not only with schemata as cultural
constructs of what the world is
like, but also with political
constructs of what it should be like.
