Translations notes
When we say translations, we mean that the shape is being moved right or left, up or down.
Example 1.
This is called
translation
The first number shows us how much we are moving left or right. The second number shows us
how much we are moving up or down. If the first number is negative we move to the left, if it is
positive we move to the right. If the second number is negative, we move down. If the second
number is positive, we move up. So in this example, our triangle is moving 6 to the right and 1
up.
, Example 2
This mean that triangle F will be moving 1 step to the left (since 1 is negative) and 1 up.
Note: If for example our first number in the translation vector is a zero, it means that the shape
is not moving left or right. If the second number is a zero, it means that the shape is not moving
up or down.
Be careful because after we translate (move ) our shape, the shape will not change size.
