Book Review Template
A book review should be interesting to read and should reflect your reaction to the
book. Be sure and set the stage for the reader. Give just enough background so they
understand when and where the story takes place and set up the main characters with a little
description about who they are. Never give away the ending! It’s always good to leave your
readers curious!
Exciting opening statement: (For example, “Eli knew his life had changed the minute the door
clanged shut and locked his family underground.”)
Oh my God. I got the chills towards the ending of part 1 of this book. It completely
blew my mind. It managed to become better than my high expectations and be
nothing at all like I expected. If I sound stunningly speechless in this review, I can't
help it. My mind is completely fried. The vocabulary is fully fleshed out and
terrifying.
Just a little bit about the plot: (Give a little background and explain the setting and characters
and what they are facing)
When an unidentified “monster” threatens international shipping, French
oceanographer Pierre Aronnax and his unflappable assistant Conseil join an
expedition organized by the US Navy to hunt down and destroy the menace. After
months of fruitless searching, they finally grapple with their quarry, but Aronnax,
Conseil, and the brash Canadian harpooner Ned Land are thrown overboard in
the attack, only to find that the “monster” is actually a futuristic submarine, the
Nautilus, commanded by a shadowy, mystical, preternaturally imposing man who
calls himself Captain Nemo.
Tell what you liked about the book: (or didn’t like)
