Terms in this set (37)
Automatic Controller A device, or combination of devices, which
measures the value of a variable, quantity, or
condition and operates to correct or limit
deviation of this measured value from a
selected (setpoint) reference.
Automatic Control System An operable arrangement of one or more
automatic controllers along with their
associated equipment connected in closed
loops with one or more processes.

Cascade Control System A control system in which the output of one
controller is the setpoint of another.
Closed Loop (Feedback Loop) Several automatic control units and the process
connected so as to provide a signal path that
includes a forward path, a feedback path, and a
summing point. The measured variable is
consistently measured, and if it deviates from
that which has been prescribed, corrective
action is applied to the final element in such a
direction as to return the input variable to the
desired value.
