The partial filling of Morphine sulfate for terminally ill

Schedule II prescriptions for patients in a LTCF or patients
with a medical diagnosis documenting a terminal illness
are valid for a period not to exceed 60 days from the issue
date, unless sooner terminated by the discontinuance of
medication. They may be filled in partial quantities to
include individual dosage units. Document whether the
patient is "terminally ill" or "LTCF" on the prescription;
failure to do so is a violation of MD law


A registered pharmacy intern may not:
I. Perform a final verification of a prescription drug or
device before dispensing.
II. Delegate a pharmacy act.
III. Administer vaccinations. - Answer-I and II only


Additionally, a registered pharmacy intern may not:
C. Perform any act that has not been authorized by the
supervising pharmacist;

D. Represent themselves as a pharmacist;
E. Dispense prescription medications when the pharmacist
is not in the pharmacy;
F. Be present in the pharmacy when the pharmacist is not
physically available onsite;
G. Act within the parameters of a therapy management
contract as provided under Health Occupations Article,
Subtitle 6A, Annotated Code of Maryland;
H. Independently compound prescriptions; or
I. Accept the return of prescription drugs or devices
directly from a patient.

permit holder before closing or ceasing pharmacy's
operation at a specific place?
I. A permit holder shall write the Board of Pharmacy at
least 14 days in advance to anticipate date of ceasing

(1). Location of the patient records;
(2). Method by which the patient records shall be
maintained; and
(3). Procedure by which patients and other authorized
individuals or entities may access the patient records.
