Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of a progressive dementia in older adults and depending on the cause, some dementia symptoms can be reversed (Mayo Clinic, 2017).Symptoms vary with dementia depending on the cause and that is what needs to be treated. There are cognitive changes that range from memory loss, confusion, disorientation, difficulty completing ADLs, and difficulty with reasoning or problem solving. There are also psychological changes that range from personality changes, depression, anxiety, inappropriate behavior, agitation, hallucinations, and paranoia (Mayo Clinic, 2017).
