application of rhetorical conventions and devices.
Examples:
Textbooks, Homework, Formal and more sophisticated expressions
Social Language
A set of casual vocabulary to communicate with others.
Examples:
Everyday conversation with friends
Techniques Used in Writing:
1. Formality
Level of professionalism of an author.
The register is the degree of formality while the tone is the writer’s attitude.
2. Objectivity
Writers avoid expressing personal opinions.
One should use expressions like “The data indicates that”.
3. Structure
All professional writers follow a general structure.
