The word healing refers to replacement of damaged
tissue by living tissue.
Where the edges of the wound are approximated, the
healing process is fast and is known as healing by
primary intention.
When there is tissue loss, and wound edges cannot
be apposed,the wound contracts to reduce the size,
granulation tissue fills the wound. This is called as
healing by secondary intention.
