The purpose of this report is to show off the current and
emerging technologies and their impact on users and
the game industry as a whole. The gaming industry
went from making games like the arcade shooter by
Taito, Space Invaders (1978) to the puzzle adventure
game by Nintendo, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time
(1998) to a recent game such as the western shooter
rpg by rockstar games, red dead redemption II (2018).
Social Trends in Gaming
Over the years of the gaming industry’s growth there have been a large amount of trends
within gaming from the classic arcade games like Donkey Kong to sports games like FIFA,
casual gamers preferring a more relaxing game like Stardew Valley or hardcore gamers
preferring something more difficult like Elden Ring, indie developers making classics like
Outer Wilds and AAA studios making games
like Red Dead Redemption, with the
increased use of Wi-Fi online games like
Fortnite came to rise along with a large
esports community, the increased
knowledge of how NPCs can be used and
how they act in game and the change from
physical copies of video games to the digital
copies being sold more often, these topics and examples will be followed through in depth.

(First Person Shooter) had a rise when games like call of duty started to come into
mainstream as it gave the player a thrill being in the viewpoint of the character they are
playing as defeating enemies in gun combat, same as a rise in the battle royale genre when
Fortnite came into popularity in 2018 when millions of people started playing the cartoonish
game with friends or by themselves hoping to be the last person/people left. This all started
with the creation of “Tennis for Two” created by Physicist William Higinbotham in 1958, the
game is extremely similar to the more popular game “pong” later
created in 1972, from this there was a rise in arcade games such as
“Donkey Kong” and “Pac-Man”, fun fact Pac-Man was originally called
Puck Man but was changed due to fears of vandalism. The trend of
, arcade games slowly faded as games with better graphics and more varied gameplay started
to be made, one such is the hit classic “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” released in 1998
on the Nintendo 64, this game quickly became a favourite to many fans and children growing
up playing the game, this game was later released on the Nintendo 3DS and transferred to
the 3D setting the device was known for. After this point there was a large increase on the
quality of graphics and gameplay as games such as the action-adventure game GTA V was
released in 2013 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and later being released on the consoles
following that and on PCs. With the increase in the video game genre there are large
amounts of new developers and such multiple genres had a rise such as simulation with the
Sims created by EA, Baldur’s Gate 3 as a role-playing game created by Larian Studios and
FIFA the sports game by EA.

Through the rise of video games more and more

this, multiple different types of players were
discovered, some players who would prefer a calmer
relaxed game or a quick game that doesn’t
take up too much time would be called casual

starting to convert to the law and there is soon to be no place for outlaws like himself and
