SCREENING TESTS Indicate A or B Recommendation
(or other if you believe it is
indicated) PLUS Rationale for this
patient
Cervical Cancer Screening A Recommendation
Rationale: Ms. Henderson is a 38-year-
old female with last pap smear noted
to be greater than 3 years ago. The
USPSTF recommends screening for
cervical cancer for women aged 30 to
65 years every 3 years with cervical
cytology alone, every 5 years with
high-risk human papillomavirus
(hrHPV) testing alone, or every 5
years with hrHPV testing in
, 2
combination with cytology
(cotesting).
Anxiety Disorder Screening B Recommendation
Rationale: Ms. Henderson stated she
occasionally smokes pot to help relax
her nerves. The USPSTF recommends
screening for anxiety disorders in
adults, including pregnant and
postpartum persons.
BRCA-Related Cancer: Risk Assessment, B Recommendation
Genetic Counseling, and Genetic Testing Rationale: Ms. Henderson’s mother,
age 50, has a recent diagnosis of
breast cancer. The USPSTF
recommends that primary care
clinicians assess women with a
personal or family history of breast,
ovarian, tubal, or peritoneal cancer or
who have an ancestry associated with
breast cancer susceptibility 1 and 2
(BRCA1/2) gene mutations with an
appropriate brief familial risk
assessment tool. Women with a
positive result on the risk assessment
tool should receive genetic counseling
and, if indicated after counseling,
genetic testing.
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea: Screening B Recommendation
Rationale: Ms. Henderson has not
been sexually active since last year,
however her ex-husband was
unfaithful during the marriage and Ms.
Henderson has concerns she may have
an STI. Ms. Henderson is at high risk of
contracting an STI due to her not
being the sole partner of her
husband’s. The USPSTF recommends
screening for gonorrhea in all sexually
active women 24 years or younger
and in women 25 years or older who
are at increased risk for infection.
Depression and Suicide Risk in Adults: B Recommendation
Screening Rationale: Ms. Henderson states she
lives alone and recently went through
a divorce that has left her feeling sad,
lonely, and stressed sometimes. The
