Basic terminology
a letter is a placeholder called a variable - a number we
do not know
e.g. x , y, a, r, etc.
a number without a variable is called a constant
e.g x + 1 your constant would be + 1 (NB ! add your symbol
infront of the constant)
e.g. 2y - 3 your constant would be - 3
a number that is attached to the variable is called a
coefficient (it means multiply)
e.g 2b this means 2 is the coefficient (NB! add your symbol
that is infront of your letter
e.g. -2b your coefficient is -2
