The video titled, “Powerful Learning Environments” prompted me to choose
“Environment and Physical Space” section in the GGA. This is because it widely explores the
various types of spaces that foster and enhance children’s learning effectively.
Subcategory: Environment and Physical Space
Item 1: “The environment and physical space are free from hazards, including unsafe
equipment, pollution, and violence.”
Examples Supporting Rating:
Neatly organized learning and playing spaces with appropriate playing toys, and a neatly made
bed for resting. Also, the playing field is fenced.
Item 2: “The environment provides basic sanitation, safe and nutritious food, potable
water, and adequate ventilation.”
Examples Supporting Rating:
The environment is clean and free form littering. The classes have large windows that ensure
maximum ventilation.
Item 3: “Educators/caregivers create a calm and peaceful social/emotional classroom.”
Examples Supporting Rating:
The caregiver holds the child’s hand while walking in the wooden rod to ensure she is calm. The
educator also sings for the children.
