Frederick Taylor (1909)
Scientific management
They are underpinned by a theory”x” which is mangment that staff need to be coerced into working though financial
motivation and that money is the key motivator for productivity.

Focuses on breaking down complex tasks into simpler ones, standaardising work processes, and providing workers with
clear instructions and traning to achieve maximim effciency.
His steps in discory:

1. Study and analyse the work process- he carefully analysed each step of the work process and identified the most
efficient and effective way to perform each.
2. Standardise the work process – involves creating detailed procedures and instructions for each task
3. Select and train the workers- both technical skills and proper attitudes and behaviours
4. Provide incentives for performance- this was the piece- rate pay, where employees are paid based on the number
of units they produce
