Question 1
The rate of unemployment in South Africa appears to have been the lowest during
Quarter 1 of 2019. This can be observed from the visual because most of the population
groups recorded lower unemployment percentages during this period compared to the
later quarters. The lines on the graph are generally positioned lower at the beginning of
the timeline, indicating that unemployment rates increased over time. Therefore,
Quarter 1 of 2019 reflects the lowest overall unemployment rate shown on the graph.
Question 2
The race/population group that appears to have the lowest rate of unemployment on the
visual is the White population group. Throughout the graph, the line representing the
White population group remains significantly lower than the other groups. While other
population groups recorded unemployment rates above 15% and even above 30%, the
White population group consistently remained below 10%. This evidence clearly shows
that White South Africans experienced the lowest unemployment levels.
