Case Study 2: ManagingSport Inc.
Nathan Hamel is a very successful worker at his company and his name has become synonymous
with words like hard work, intuitiveness, and reliable. He has almost never stayed in the same
place at ManagingSport Inc. for long, as he constantly moves up the ladder and has been
promoted 3 times in his 5 years there. Although, his colleagues cannot say the same, as they are
not appreciated or even given much chance to succeed where they are at- which explains some
poor company statistics over the last 5 years.
Case Study
Hamel’s Experiences
Hamel has been constantly recognized and rewarded for his hard work since he has been
at ManagingSport. He has been given opportunity and when he has shown good work, he has
been promoted, making it all the way to Vice President of the company at a young age. But, his
employees have not seem to have been given that same chance. They have not even been
recognized in the slightest, despite making the most of what they are given. They have seen
Hamel have much success and be recognized for that, but they have not even been given kind
words for their work, this may cause them to not have the utmost respect for their vice president.
Hamel’s Motivations
Hamel may have been motivated to join because he knew his work was received well and
that his bosses during his initial internship relied on him and knew he could deliver. Hamel’s
motivation changed from wanting to be a hard worker, to wanting to make it to the top, because
he knew he could excel given his circumstances in the past with the company.
