urban Mumbai with his older brother, Salim. He identified that he has been experiencing
difficulty focusing and has not been able to sleep or is calling out during his nightmares. He also
reports that he is very fearful of even walking near a police station and states that he would

, Jamal was orphaned as a child after his mother was murdered and his father abandoned
him and his brother shortly after Jamal’s birth. Jamal and his brother do not have any further
family support. Jamal and his brother grew up in poverty, and until Jamal was 7 years old, the
two moved between government facilities. Because of these shared experiences, Jamal and Salim
are very close. Jamal’s mother was murdered during an anti-Muslim rampage within the family’s
Mumbai neighborhood. Jamal reports that he does not remember his mother or father, due to the
fact that he was parentless shortly after birth. Jamal also has a close relationship with Latika, his
former girlfriend and sexual partner. who has recently become involved in the Mumbai gangs. In
an attempt to contact Latika, he participates on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? There were no

Jamal has no significant history of mental health treatment. He has attended two
counseling sessions through the Center for Enlightenment. This began after his brother began
noticing significant changes in Jamal’s mood and affect. Jamal has been experiencing insomnia
